George Farkas is a distinguished professor of education at the University of California, Irvine. His research focuses on educational inequality and how it can be reduced. He invented Reading One-to-One, a tutoring program that was the model for President Clinton’s America Reads. This program currently operates in the Santa Ana School District, employing UC Irvine students as tutors. Farkas received his PhD from Cornell University.
