Carrie Hahnel is an independent researcher and consultant, and a fellow with the Opportunity Institute. Her work focuses on education policy, including school finance, accountability, and ways in which policies and systems can mitigate racial and socioeconomic inequities. Previously, she worked as interim co-executive director and director of research and policy at Education Trust–West, a nonprofit advocacy group focused on closing student achievement gaps. She also served as director of research and evaluation for the KIPP Foundation. She received a Master's of Education degree in arts education and education policy from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
