Katherine Hayes leads the Research Unit at the Los Angeles Unified School District; chairs the Committee for External Research Review; provides key direction and support for the School Experience Survey; and consults with the Division of Instruction and Student Health and Human Services staff on matters relating to research design, human subjects protection, and the dissemination of research findings, Hayes is educational anthropologist with over 30 years of research and development experience in bilingual education, immigrant students and their families, and urban education. She recently retired from teaching research methods courses at the University of Southern California, California State University, Los Angeles, and the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her PhD from UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.
